Our Roman Catholic Faith

The Roman Catholic faith is central to the core curriculum at St. Lawrence School. In addition to daily religion classes, students have many opportunities to grow in their faith.

Every school day begins and ends with prayer. Students of all grade levels attend Mass once a week with the students participating as lectors, altar servers, and gift bearers. The first Friday of every month the classes participates in Eucharistic Adoration. We have school-wide Rosaries a minimum of 4 times a year and all students participate in the Stations of the Cross during Lent.

First Reconciliation: Preparation for First Reconciliation occurs during second grade for students who have been baptized and have completed the first year of Religious Education. A Family Retreat will be held in October to begin preparation for the sacrament.

First Eucharist: Preparation for First Eucharist also occurs during second grade for students who have been baptized and have completed the first year of Religious Education. A required Family Retreat begins the program for the second semester. The solemn masses for First Eucharist will be celebrated in early May, usually on a Saturday morning.

Confirmation: Preparation for Confirmation begins in 7th grade and continues through 8th grade for students. Candidates pray for each other at a Dedication Service in the Fall of 8th grade. Reception of the sacrament is celebrated in the following Fall (9th grade).
